Yorleni Sapp is passionate about work with meaning. She brings to the job a passion for serving individuals believing all people have the right to live with dignity. Yorleni grew up in a developing country (Costa Rica), which shaped her personal values and beliefs. Her life experiences, along with living in different countries, created a strong desire within her to be part of something bigger than herself. She is fascinated about diversity and being sensitive to all cultures. Growing up in a home with both parents deeply involved in nonprofit work, she understands firsthand the impact and the rewarding experience of giving back, and affecting change. She has chosen to respond by being in a field where she can play an active part in developing solutions on behalf of social issues.

Yorleni is a graduate from UACA-Universidad Autónoma de Centro America, where she received a License in Law. She also attended Georgetown University and Costa Rica University, where she received a BA in Political Science. She is married to her loving husband, Matt. In their spare time they enjoy walks with Bella their beautiful golden retriever.

About Single Mothers Outreach

smo-logoParenting is too important a responsibility to bear alone, yet all too often single mothers and fathers are forced to do just that. Because we believe that effective parenting leads to successful, well-adjusted children, Single Mothers Outreach scaffolds families facing sudden housing instability, income loss, emotional trauma, and social deterioration as the result of divorce, abandonment, or widowhood. With a mission to “empower single parents and their children by providing hope, support, and resources so that families can become self-sustaining and thrive,” Single Mothers Outreach (SMO) directly helps single parents find jobs, get educated, secure housing, stabilize their children’s emotional states, manage their finances, and help one another

  1. As an alumni, I have to ask. . . Have you ever been a Mother, or a single mother? The last director was NOT. This adds credibility to what Debbie Quick began years ago, and the purpose behind the organization. Do you have the ability to help these women???

    • Neil Fitzgerald says:

      Hi Carol

      Thank you for your query.

Our retiring Executive Director is a mother. Indeed one of the reasons for her retirement is to spend more time with her gorgeous new grand daughter.

I’m not a Single Mom myself. My parents spilt when I was 25. I can tell you though that my grandfather had to go and work as a 15 year old to support his family after his Dad died suddenly so I’m well aware of the challenges single parents face.

Our staff are selected because the board think they’re the best person for the job and have the skills required. We’re incredibly proud of their dedication.

Thanks once again for your comments.

  2. Lucila says:

I was a single mother. I always envisioned that someday I would be able to have a non-profit that could help provide services.
I would like to learn more about your program.
Please send me more info. I did not see website in article.
(I have been a case manager for years and am now currently working in mental health clinic.
