[DA] – A 27-year-old man has been charged with starting a brush fire near Highway 138 and 269th Street West in Neenach, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.
David Artiaga (dob 3/26/89) of Lancaster faces one felony count each of arson of a forest and arson of property of another in case PA086793.
Artiaga is scheduled to be arraigned today in Department S of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch. The case was filed on July 21.
On July 19, the defendant allegedly set fire to brush in a lot on the 26000 block of 269th Street West, according to the felony complaint. The fire spread to approximately 13 acres before it was contained by firefighters, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors are requesting $125,000 bail. Artiaga faces a possible maximum sentence of six years and eight months in state prison if convicted as charged.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Santa Clarita Station.
