Recent drone activity has occurred over the fire in the Pacoima Reservoir Area. Sheriff Deputies are actively attempting to locate and stop this intrusion. When drones interfere with firefighting efforts, a wildfire has the potential to grow larger and cause more damage. On the Sand Fire, an FAA Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR)is in effect and any private aircraft or drone that violates the TFR could face serious criminal charges. Even without a TFR, anyone who hampers firefighting efforts could face charges. For more information on drones the public can visit the FAA’s website atwww.KnowBeforeYouFly.org. “If you fly, we can’t!”

user33433-1469551559-media1L.A. County Fire Department, Tuesday 9 a.m.:

Last night the fire was active as night-shift crews constructed handling near Placerita Road on the northwest side. An infrared flight revealed that the north side is the hottest and most active, however heat is scattered within the fire. Today, structure-defense firefighters will continue to work in affected communities. Crews around the fire’s perimeter will construct direct hand-line, dozer line, and contingency line; improve and hold existing line; and mop up contained line. Aircraft operations continue, including dropping water and retardant as needed to assist firefighters on the ground. During the evening a tactical fire operation was performed to help burn out unburned fuels. This helps crews to access more of the burn area to continue to construct line around the fire.

* Princessa & Lost Canyon Road

* Canyon Park Blvd & Lost Canyon Road

* Sand Canyon Road & Lost Canyon Road

* Escondido & 14 Freeway

  1. Beth Ryan Beth Ryan says:

    Wow. I live at Golden Valley and Sierra Hwy. This morning, it looked like they really knocked down most of the west side of the fire. I’m surprised it’s still “uncontrolled”.

    • “Controlled” refers to how much hose they have lain around the perimeter. It doesn’t really relate to how much is “out.” Although that said, hot spots will likely flare up for days.

  2. This map means nothing to me. I can’t tell where this is.

  3. Where exactly is the heart of the fire today? Is Acton still a concern?

  4. Gina leonard says:

    Bless the dedicated hard working men we call our firemen. They risk their lives for us dealing with incredible heat and danger. Living in one of the evacuated fire ares and seeing first hand the fire racing towards my nieghborhood and watching these gallant men in action reminds me how very from my heart thank you safe they have always made me feel. From my heart thank you
