The Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management in coordination with the State of California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and the City of Santa Clarita will open a Local Assistance Center (LAC) at the William S. Hart Park Hart Hall (24151 Newhall Avenue, Newhall, CA 91321) beginning Friday, August 5, 2016.
The LAC is available to all residents impacted by the recent Sand Fire that burned over 37,000 acres, resulting in the evacuations of 10,000 homes and 20,000 people. “The LAC will provide a single place for people impacted by the Sand Fire to receive help and get them on the road to recovery” stated Jeff Reeb, Director of the Los Angeles County’s Office of Emergency Management. The center will serve as a one-stop source of information including how to replace records lost in the fire, initiate building permit requests and apply for assistance. No donations will be accepted at the LAC.
The LAC is scheduled to be open from August 5th through August 8th. The days and hours of operation are: Friday, August 5 (1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.), Saturday August 6 (8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) and Monday, August 8 (1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). The LAC is closed on Sunday August 7th.
