Local watercolor artists Zony Gordon and Gary Friedman will give a live art demonstration of landscape and flower painting on Saturday, July 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the community room at the Old Town Newhall Library.
Gordon and Friedman are two of the artists featured in the ongoing “Drama of Color” exhibit that runs through Aug. 5 at the library.
Hosted by the city of Santa Clarita, the exhibit also features the work of Patty O’Hearn and Jane Dietz.
“They see color, find color, push color, exaggerate color, mix colors, experiment with color, and celebrate color,” according to the exhibit’s official description. “Because of their fascination with color, their artwork is often considered to be impressionistic and painterly rather than descriptively realistic.”
Collaborating as The Newhall Painters, the artists “seek out intriguing locations, striking vistas, powerful compositions, inspirational subjects, and serene images that they intend to document and capture, then use the discipline of science as it relates to color by employing various techniques to apply or manipulate water, pigment, brushes, pallet knife, paint, oil and turpentine to block in important shapes.”
