Yeah, the more I think about it and after seeing the video… I’m shocked that that’s allowed. And it didn’t look like a stumble at all (some say she stumbled and decided to dive)… it was a full on purposeful dive for the finish!! I’m upset :/

The gates have opened for ending races on a dive, are you f kidding me. Coaches are going to start training on “dive” finishes. That is for baseball… Diving to still a base. Where do write to clarify and stop this.

I agree it’s unfortunate for Felix and I would’ve liked to see her take the gold, but diving across the line is 100% legal.

If you know anything about track rules, you know the finish is the first part of your body below the neck, and above the hips(chest) that crosses the line. It was the correct results. David Nevil( USA) earned a silver medal in the same way in China. It doesn’t matter if it was on purpose or she tripped her body was across the line before Allison’s.
Allison is a phenomenal athlete and on that day she earned a Silver medal and we should be very proud of that!!
If we used the foot then the taller athlete would always win

Leaning over the line while running across the finish line is winning. If you don’t cross the line on your feet you did not RUN the whole race. Shame on you Shaunee Miller ?just gave cause for a rule change. Will the IOC stop this from happening again? I hope so?

First torso to cross wins. Not hands or feet, torso. That’s why runners lean forward at the end. She leaned, won, then fell. But even if she had clearly dove, it still would have been fair, legal and sportsmanlike. UK racer won the men’s 4,000m gold after he fell down in the middle of the race. He got up, continued and won. You can cartwheel across the finish line if you’re good enough… as long as you stay in your lane and don’t hinder other runners.
I really don’t understand why people are so upset about this. Rules are rules. Competition is competition. She won. Congratulations to her.
