Newhall resident Larry Adamson will be honored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Tuesday for nearly two decades of service as president and CEO of L.A.’s Midnight Mission, which serves the homeless and addictive populations of Los Angeles.

Adamson joined The Midnight Misison in 1998 and in 2004 was appointed by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority Commission. Previously he spent 23 years with the Automobile Club of Southern California, serving as its vice president of administration.

The following is from his LAHSA bio:

Mr. Adamson is a graduate of Venice High School and California State University, Los Angeles, where he holds an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice.

He currently serves as a director on several Boards of Directors including The Masonic Homes Board of California where he serves as Chairman of its Finance Committee and is President of the Board of Los Angeles Central Area Providers Collaborative. He has also served as Vice Chairman of the Board of ACSC Federal Credit Union and on the Foundation for California State University, Los Angeles.

For over 10 years, Mr. Adamson served on the Board of Directors of the CSULA Alumni Association where he was President in 1996. In 1998 he was honored as the University Alumni of Merit. In 1996 he joined the CSU Alumni Council, an organization that represents the Alumni Associations of the 23-campus, California State University system, where he served two terms as its President from 1998 to 2000. In 1998 he was honored as the system’s “Outstanding Alumni.” In 2005, he was confirmed as a Trustee of the California State University System.

In December 2004, Mr. Adamson was appointed by Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich to serve as a Commissioner for the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority. He has been honored by the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, State and Federal governments for his work in addressing homeless policy and practices. In late 2006, he was honored with the George Washington Honor Medal for his work by the Freedom’s Foundation at Valley Forge.

Mr. Adamson is active in several community and social organizations. He is the past President of Downtown LA Morning Rotary Club and is currently District Chair of Urban Emphasis for the Boy Scouts of America, Los Angeles Area Council.

Commissioner Adamson lives in Newhall, California with his wife, Lynn. They have two children and one grandchild.
