The Master’s University volleyball team fell in five sets (19-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 10-15) to La Sierra University Wednesday night on Bross Court.
The non-conference loss moved TMU’s 2016 record to 8-5. Notably, the last time the two teams met was on September 2, where TMU cruised to a 3-0 victory.
By the end of Wednesday’s showing, Kayla Sims (Anchorage, AK) posted 22 assists, Aubrey Pyburn (Sun Valley, CA) claimed 15 kills, while Emily Clark (Lake Forrest, CA) and Mackenzie Delo (Chandler, AZ) each chipped in nine digs.
Collectively, the Lady Mustangs claimed 56 kills, 53 assists, 48 digs, and a .309 attack percentage.
Looking to snap their two-match losing streak, the Lady Mustangs return to GSAC play this weekend. TMU hosts San Diego Christian on Friday at 7:00 p.m., and Arizona Christian on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Rocklin, Calif., Sept. 10 – The Master’s University volleyball team was handed its first Golden State Athletic Conference loss of the 2016 season after falling to William Jessup University 3-2 (25-17, 21-25, 22-25, 25-13, 13-15).
Notably, Saturday marked the first time in program history that TMU fell to William Jessup University.
With the loss, TMU’s record moves to 8-4 and 1-1 in GSAC play.
“Tonight was Jessup’s night,” commented TMU head coach Allan Vince. “Their athletes played together and didn’t let many balls hit the floor. They played with a sense of passion and urgency. We did not respond as we normally would to the challenge presented, and it cost us the match. Tonight our touch was off, and we became complacent. This is a great opportunity to learn about who this team really is, and what our goals are for the remainder of the season. We need to extract everything from this weekend, and apply it to our training next week.”
Aubrey Pyburn (Sun Valley, CA) paced TMU with 17 kills, Kayla Sims (Anchorage, AK) tallied 38 assists, while Emily Clark (Lake Forest, CA) claimed 21 digs.
Now, the Lady Mustangs will take a quick break from GSAC play and host La Sierra University on Wednesday. First serve is set for 7 p.m. on Bross Court.
