One-in-four students have experienced some form of bullying in schools across the country in 2015 according to the National Center for Educational Statistics and it is estimated that many more simply never come forward or admit to being bullied.
Bullying in all of its forms is occurring every day in local schools and with the advances in social media it is only becoming easier for bullying to follow students home.
Quest Toastmasters is hosting their anti-bullying: Confidence Boot Camp at the Valencia public library on September 29, the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature guest speakers from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station as well as speakers from Quest Toastmasters.
Presentations will cover topics such as what bullying looks like in local schools, how teens and parents can work to prevent bullying, what resources are currently available for those who are bullied, how parents can identify bullying and more.
The program is completely free and it open to children and adults with absolutely no registration required.
Participants can learn about many different ways to increase their confidence and improve their public speaking and body language to help them stand up to bullies and speak up for themselves.
