The City of Santa Clarita’s March-through-October Thursdays@Newhall series, sponsored by Galpin Subaru, comes to a close with an interactive dance night, one-of-kind car show, a zombie outbreak, interesting speakers and more on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.
From 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on October 6, JAM Sessions, hosted by the Ford Theatre Foundation, will bring dancing and live performances to the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street. The October JAM Session will feature zydeco dancing, a high-energy, accordion-driven dance that blends blues, R&B and the music of the Louisiana creoles. At 8 p.m. residents can practice their new moves during a live concert from Dennis G & the Zydeco Trail Riderz.
Meanwhile on October 6, at the Repertory East Playhouse, located at 24266 Main Street, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., performers will take the stage for ten minutes each and share their live stories, musical acts, mindreading and comedy at 10 by 10. Performers and filmmakers include The New Mexican, Bronston Jones, Gabe Abelson, Alex Wand, Oscar Sagastume, Luna and Lars, Steve Messick, Liam Johnson and Fuse.
From 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on October 13, the Revved Up car show, sponsored by State Farm, will feature Off-Road Vehicles. Residents can enjoy music, food trucks and adult beverages provided by Persia Lounge. Local residents interested in submitting an automobile for Revved Up can apply online.
Also on October 13, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., local songwriters will perform their original work at Note by Note in the Newhall Refinery, located at 24258 Main Street. Performers interested in Note by Note can apply online.
Zombies are set to invade Old Town Newhall at the October 20 SENSES block party on Main Street from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Give your best chilling shriek at the scream meter, receive a zombie wound at the specialty makeup booth or visit the CERT booth to learn how to prepare for a zombie invasion. Zombies and costume enthusiasts will enjoy hours of live entertainment, themed drinks, food trucks, specialty performances and other dangerously fun promotions!
Thursdays@Newhall’s October events conclude with the SCVTV Presents The OutWest Concert Series and ARTree Speaker Series on October 27. From 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the ARTree Speaker Series, presented in partnership with the CalArts Community Arts Partnership and the City of Santa Clarita, will take place at the Old Town Newhall Library and will feature CalArts president, Steven Lavine. At 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:00 p.m.) at the Repertory East Playhouse, SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series will host singer/songwriter Kerry Grombacher.
