Salute to Youth

On Thursday the Antelope Valley Union High School District celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Salute to Youth. My office joined students from all over the Antelope Valley who had the opportunity to ask questions and interact with local representatives from local businesses, apprenticeships, career-technical schools, college programs, high school academies and military. The students were able to participate in interactive demonstrations and information about education and training needed for jobs in 15 different industry sectors. Thank you to Diane Walker and the other personnel from AVUHSD for another great Salute to Youth!

Santa Clarita Heart Walk

This weekend my staff presented a certificate to the American Heart Association in honor of their 2016 Heart Walk in Santa Clarita. As heart disease continues to be the #1 killer of Americans throughout the country, it is important to bring awareness, education, research, and health programs to our communities to improve the health of every American. Thank you to the Los Angeles County Division of the American Heart Association and your supporters for putting together this important event.

Also this weekend my office participated in the Antelope Valley Veterans Outreach at Grace Chapel, where local veterans were able to access many services provided by local businesses. Thank you to Grace Chapel for opening their rooms for these heroes. Breakfast was provided by the Rotary Club of Lancaster, hair cuts by Supercuts and dental care by the Antelope Valley Community Clinic and medical care was provided by the West LA Medical Center.

Thank you to everyone who made the Veteran Stand Down a success
