Attempt Grand Theft Auto – 25500 Fountain Glen Court

Person(s) unknown smashed the rear passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and then attempted to start the vehicle by forcing an unknown object into the ignition switch.

10/04/16

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25300 The Old Road

Person(s) unknown pried open the rear window of the victim’s 2010 Chevrolet Suburban and stole the third row, removable seats.

10/08/16

Petty Theft (Shoplifting) – 25400 The Old Road

Two male adults loaded several cases of baby formula into a plastic storage container and then exited the store through an emergency exit without paying for the items. Total loss was $824.00.

Burglary – 26100 Shadow Rock Lane

Person(s) unknown broke into the victim’s home and stole a dresser drawer containing unknown items.

Tip of the Week: Preventing Vehicle Thefts

‘Smash and grabs’ are a common problem all over the country. Thieves look into your vehicle for anything of interest, smash the window, then grab what they can and run. This can be a very expensive inconvenience to the victim. Here are some tips to prevent yourself from becoming a victim.

Never leave purses, laptop computers, cell phones, GPS devices, etc, in your vehicle where they are in plain view. If you cannot take them with you, then store them in the trunk and out of view.
Never leave items of interest, like gym bags, pack packs, unmarked boxes, or packages, in your vehicle in plain view. Even though a thief does not know what these items contain, it may be worth the risk to them to steal them.
When parking at night, try to park in a well-lit area to deter thieves.
Consider using a sunshade in your vehicle, even at night or in parking structures. This makes it far more difficult for a thief to look into your vehicle for anything of interest.
