This year’s Tribute is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 4, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The deluxe one-hour helicopter tour for two is offered by Elite Helicopter tours of Van Nuys and includes a flyover of the Hollywood Sign, all of the Hollywood landmarks and celebrity homes, including a bird’s eye view of the Playboy mansion, followed by a trip through scenic Malibu Canyon and the opportunity to “heli-surf” down California’s beautiful coast and the 27 miles of scenic beauty of Malibu. Champagne is available to complement this first-class helicopter ride, valued at $600.

The two-person visit to Taliesin West is filled with surprise, majestic views and intimate interior details. The unique home now houses the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. The auction buyer and guest will be welcomed into every room and space to enjoy the full magic of one of the world’s most extraordinary architectural sites. The package includes a flight to Phoenix on Southwest Airlines and an overnight stay at the Hilton Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ, where the home is located.

Culinary treats will include Zonta’s signature Red, White & Blueberry Breakfast for 12, which offers a home-cooked breakfast served at a reserved front-row site at the 2017 4th of July Parade in Downtown Newhall; and dinner for eight with Marston’s owner and chef, Jim McCardy, starting with a cooking lesson in Marston’s gourmet kitchen, then progressing to dinner for eight with appetizer, salad course, main course and dessert, including a wine pairing with the main course.

Entertainment packages on the auction block include a Disney package with four Park Hopper tickets and 12 Regal movie tickets; and a barbecue picnic for up to 30 guests at the buyer’s choice of location, with a menu of either tri tip, chicken or sausages, barbecue sauce, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob and biscuits. Honoree: Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook

The Zonta committee which is organizing this year’s Tribute is still working on additional live auction packages and additional perks to complete existing packages.

Zonta is still accepting sponsorships for the event, ranging from $5,000 for a Platinum Sponsor to $2,500 for a Gold Sponsor and $1,750 for a Mahogany Sponsor. Sponsored tables come with seating for 10 guests and may include premiere table location, VIP parking, wine, advertising in the event journal, recognition at the event itself, signage and audio/visual recognition at the event, according to the level of sponsorship.

Individual dinner tickets will be $125 per person on a space-available basis after sponsorship tables have been accommodated.

Zonta’s annual Tribute to Women is the local club’s main fundraiser each year and helps to support such local programs as Girls’ Robotics, Court Advocacy for domestic violence victims, LifeForward workshops, the annual Women in Service program, and a number of scholarships and fellowships for outstanding women. The local club also supports programs around the world that enrich the lives of women, through Zonta International.

The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a live auction and the tribute itself. Zonta is proud to honor Dr. Dianne Van Hook for an unprecedented second time. As the youngest individual ever to become a California Community College CEO, she was first honored by Zonta in 1995 for her achievements. Two decades later, she is now the longest serving community college CEO in California, and this year’s Tribute will celebrate her outstanding contributions to Zonta International’s driving force of service for women in need.

Information on tickets or sponsorships for the Tribute is available by contacting Judy Penman at (661)252-9351 or tribute@scvzonta.org.

The 76.6-mile-long Antelope Valley Line has the third-highest ridership in Metrolink’s system with an estimated average of 9,000 passengers daily. However, the uneven terrain and single-tracking along the line in some areas forces trains to travel at a slower speed which results in an estimated travel time of approximately one hour between Santa Clarita and Union Station.
