In the United States, local community colleges like College of the Canyons play an extremely critical role in the life of our communities and in the future of American society.
College of the Canyons is one of 113 community colleges in California, which together form the largest system of higher education in the nation, with over 2.6 million students. Every day we provide our students with the knowledge and experience necessary to compete in today’s economy. For our students this means jobs, family and housing. Many of our students are returning U.S. veterans, single parents, or unemployed workers who need new skills to re-enter the workforce. The college offers them educational opportunities in career technical education, basic courses in english and math, and preparation for transfer to four-year colleges and universities.
You help us make this happen. Your support over the past four decades has enabled us to be counted among America’s top community colleges. Plus, it is truly amazing to see the enormous impact the college has had on the lives of our students and the entire Santa Clarita Valley. And we thank you from the very bottom of our hearts.

Old Zinfandel Vines Growing on Campus!
Ami Belli (left) visits the College of the Canyons vineyard to check on the progress. The Old Vine Zinfandel grape vines were originally donated to College of the Canyons by her late husband, Remo Belli. The college established its own vineyard with vines from his award-winning vineyard in Paso Robles. We look forward to enjoying a bottle of College of the Canyons Zin in the near future!

Honoring Jack Oakie
and Victoria Horne
The Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Oakie Charitable Foundation Trust has partnered with the College of the Canyons Foundation in support of student scholarships in the area of visual and performing arts. Since 2007, the Oakie Charitable Foundation Trust has donated more than $100,000 toward the Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Memorial Scholarship at College of the Canyons.

A Fond Farewell to
Michele Edmonson
Longtime COC Foundation staff member Michele Edmonson will retire at the end of the year, drawing to a close nearly 20 years of dedicated service. She began working at College of the Canyons by serving as athletic expansion campaign coordinator and worked her way up to become director of development in 2007.

When Jack and Doreen Shine first crossed paths in the real estate world back in 1993, little did they know that their union would lead to a continuous commitment to serve community members of the Santa Clarita Valley. Today, whether they are building homes, contributing to local charities, or advocating on behalf of education and the arts, the Shines continue to work tirelessly to enhance the community of Santa Clarita.
