Bouquet Reservoir

kenstriplinI am pleased to let you know that the City and the local arts community recently launched a new, local website dedicated to the arts in Santa Clarita. SantaClaritaArts.com is designed as a one-stop shop for everything related to the arts in our community.

Santa Clarita is home to a vital community of arts and cultural organizations including many individual artists and creative professionals. The new website will include a creative directory of local artists and creative services in Santa Clarita, and businesses and individuals are encouraged to submit their information for inclusion.

Our goal is that the new website will help connect artists through the site’s creative directory, allowing bands, musicians, instructors, visual artists and art venues to share information and thrive. The website will also include a comprehensive listing of art-related events, workshops and classes in the Santa Clarita Valley.

You may be interested to know the City Council recently approved a comprehensive Arts Master Plan. The Santa Clarita Arts Master Plan is organized according to three overarching themes and accompanying focus areas.

Theme 1. Enhancing Cultural Vitality in the Community

* Public Art

* Old Town Newhall Arts and Entertainment District

* Arts Education

Theme 2. Strengthening Cultural Support Systems

* Supporting Artists and Arts Organizations

* Arts Funding

* Creative Economy

* Marketing the Arts

Theme 3. Fostering Greater Diversity and Inclusion

* Celebrating Diversity

* Governance of the Arts

* Cultural Facilities, Venues and Spaces

I would like to encourage you to check out the entire plan available on the City’s website at www.santa-clarita.com.

Thank you for your interest and participation in our City. Please feel free to email me directly at kstriplin@santa-clarita.com.

    The City website sure doesn’t make it easy to find the “entire” Arts Master Plan. I have been searching a variety of terms to look at the entire plan and wasn’t able to bring up the plan. The best I got was a February 2016 pdf of the Arts Plan. According to this article the ‘City Council recently approved a comprehensive Arts Master Plan.” I have to assume the February 2016 pdf is not THAT plan.

    Thank you!!

    • Cheryl Phillips says:

      That’s the same one I did find, but it is dated FEBRUARY 2016. The article makes it sound like it was just recently updated and finalized. Why does it have a February date??

    You’re right, it does link from the new Santa Clarita Arts website (santaclaritaarts.com), but it’s a little bit hard to find ………. here it is:
