The Real Side | Commentary by Joe Messina
| Tuesday, Nov 8, 2016

joemessinamugA presidential ticket with Al Capone and Don Corleone could actually happen, based on the current state of moral values in this country.

Lying, cheating and lawlessness are just another day in the life of an American politician – and we accept it. We actually accept it.

President Obama’s approval rating is 53 percent. We have 95 million Americans out of work, 13 million more Americans on food stamps than when Obama took office, and the lowest labor participation rate since the 1970s. It’s the worst economic recovery since the 1940s. Home ownership is at its lowest rate in 51 years. Health insurance premiums are skyrocketing because of Obama’s signature legislation. Our military is weak, the economy is propped up, and I can’t see my doctor. Unreal. I imagine if the economy would actually tank and the banks close, Obama would be closer to a 100-percent approval rating.

Obama lied about knowing Hillary Clinton had an email server. He actually sent her emails – and he still has an approval rating of 53 percent. My God. By this standard, Richard Nixon should have had a 99-percent rating when he left office and have submitted for sainthood. (I gave him only a 99 percent because he has probably been voting Democratic since his death.)

FBI Director James Comey affirmed that Hillary Clinton lied about everything. Comey stated, “Our investigation found that there was classified information sent.” That’s illegal. When Rep. Trey Gowdy asked if Clinton stated there was nothing marked classified in her emails, Comey said, “That’s not true,” “There was classified information emailed.” Treason. Guilty.

Comey also said Clinton lied about only using one device. He verified that she used several – up to 4 – devices. Once again she lied without even blinking.

She claimed all work-related emails were returned. Comey verified that was not true. They found thousands of work-related emails that were not returned. Clinton said neither she nor her staff deleted work-related emails. Comey said, “We found traces of deleted work-related emails.” Clinton said her lawyers read and went through every email. Comey said: Not true.

Clinton is a former first lady, a former United States senator and a former Secretary of State. She used unsecured servers to send classified information around. She didn’t recognize an everyday symbol placed on documents to show they were classified, and even if she missed it, wasn’t she aware enough to know they were sensitive?

I’m sorry. She says Trump can’t be trusted with classified information? The meds must be affecting her.

The FBI took more than a year to look at 33,000 emails, yet just this past weekend, it decided there were no issues with the almost 650,000 emails found on Anthony Weiner’s machine that was used by his wife to receive, store and print government emails.

Clinton wants your vote. She has lied about almost everything to cover her illegal and unethical tracks. She has a history and a lifestyle of deceit.

* She was removed from the House Judiciary Committee as a staffer for lying and incompetence.

* The Whitewater scandal.

* Lied about sniper fire.

* Covered up her husband’s sexual assaults and rapes and berated the women who accused him.

* Took items from the White House when they left (which they later had to return).

* Failure to tell the truth about Libya to the parents of the dead Americans.

* Went from “dead broke” to a 1-percenter after the Clinton Foundation was formed.

* Husband’s speaking fees tripled after she became Secretary of State.

I could fill pages with this stuff. Some of you on the left either really believe that all of these issues are false. They’re pushed by a right-wing agenda. Or maybe they could be true, but you just don’t care; at least they are not Republicans.

In speaking with some of you, I am shocked to hear you say all politicians are corrupt and that they need to act like this to make it in politics. And ignore whatever evidence is being reported; she hasn’t been convicted of anything.

You know, Al Capone’s gang pulled in over $100 million a year. That’s equivalent to $1.4 billion today. Although he didn’t give speeches, he was highly involved in bootlegging, followed by gambling, prostitution, racketeering and other illicit activities.

He was finally taken down and jailed for – wait for it – tax evasion. He was found guilty of five counts of tax fraud and sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Capone was listed as Chicago’s public enemy No. 1 but could have been elected mayor by a landslide because Chicagoans loved him. It seems he paid for and provided many of the soup kitchens around town. Many didn’t care what he did, as long as the kitchens remained open.

So maybe a Clinton-Capone ticket would be in order.

We still haven’t received ANY notification from the LA County Registrar about where our voting location has been changed to! How will this affect those people who get frustrated by going to their traditional voting place, waiting in line, then finding out that it is not where they are to vote and maybe deciding not to vote at all?

Last week, I sent this out to all of the local SCV news sites but so far NONE of them have deemed it important enough to respond. Why?

    Alert!

Please send out in your daily emails and post on your website.

We received a missed call voice mail message from the LA County Registrar on a Nov 1 that said our voting location had changed BUT did not tell us where the new location was. It said we should look for a notice in the mail identifying the new location. As of today we have NOT received that notice!

In spite of this is being a very late “last minute” change, I would hate to think it might cause some voter suppression for those who wait to vote just before the 8PM closing time or those who want to vote early before work and don’t have time to look for the new location after going to the traditional locations.

It would be interesting to get a response from the County Registrar’s office about why this was done so late.

In case some people didn’t get the notification, the voting location has changed for the central Newhall area, Voting Precinct 6220043A, that has normally voted at either the Market St Senior Center or at the Valley St Senior Retirement Condo Village.

    We now must vote at:
    A V PARTY RENTALS – Handicap Accessible
    SHOWROOM
    23800 NEWHALL AVE
    NEWHALL, CA 91321
POLLS OPEN AT 7 A.M. AND CLOSE AT 8 P.M.

Fact checked the 95 million in your article, It is true that 95 million are not working, but that is deceptive as it states, “In fact, the current figure — 95 million as of January — includes only 6 million who say they want to work.” You should run for president.
