A semi truck collision Sunday evening caused a part of the I-5 in Castaic to be closed for hours while crews cleaned up spilt diesel fuel.
The collision occurred around 6:35 p.m. on the northbound I-5, south of Parker Road, according to a California Highway Patrol report. The truck came to a stop, blocking both of the left hand lanes of the northbound and southbound sides of the freeway and the fuel tanks were breached.
About 80 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled on the freeway causing a SigAlert to be issued from around 9:50 p.m. to 12:42 a.m.
The left two lanes on both sides of the freeway were closed to move the truck and to clean up the diesel.
The driver of the semi was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with minor injuries.
Caltrans was requested to assist cleaning up the scene.
The CMS sign were activated on northbound and southbound lanes of I-5 to notify the approaching motorists.
