While creating family memories, you can get a free reusable bag to use for your shopping on Friday, December 16 between 10 a.m. and noon or while supplies last. These reusable bags are made of recycled content and will be handed out by city of Santa Clarita staff next to Santa’s house and at the Patios entrance.
Say Goodbye to Plastic Bags in Stores
California’s Proposition 67 statewide ban on single-use plastic carryout bags was narrowly approved by voters November 8 with 52 percent approval. The proposition requires grocery stores, large food retail stores, pharmacies, convenience stores, food marts and liquor stores to charge at least 10 cents for carryout bags at the register. Although the law does not go into effect until next month, stores in the Santa Clarita Valley are already charging customers for plastic and paper bags.
Go Reusable!
Reusable bags are the most eco-friendly option since they can be used, washed, and used again. Also, most reusable bags can be placed in the recycle bin when they are at the end of their life.
The city of Santa Clarita hopes you will enjoy the holidays and remember to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!
If you have any questions about where to take things or what can be recycled, please go to GreenSantaClarita.com or call 661-286-4098.

I’d be a little more impressed if they were handing them out on a weekend or in the evening, 10am-12pm on a Friday is when most people are at work :(
Hmmm, so people who can afford to shop at the mall get free reusable bags from the city while those who can’t afford to shop at the mall, get nothing. Seems fair to me…………
