Dante Acosta
On Friday, Assemblyman Dante Acosta (R-Santa Clarita) issued a statement regarding his vote to oppose confirming Xavier Becerra for Attorney General of California.
This is his statement:
“In researching the nominee’s record in Congress it became clear that his history on both public safety, and particularly veteran issues, was a problem. I could not in good conscience vote to support those beliefs and vote for Mr. Becerra as the top law enforcement official in the state. In Congress Mr. Becerra has a record of voting against our veterans’ interests. Most concerning, he refused to hold employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs personally accountable for misconduct. The 38th Assembly District is a wonderful community and we rally around our veterans. As a Gold Star family, I have seen firsthand how our community lifts up our Men and Women who serve in the armed forces, the families who grieve the loss of a loved one, and our veterans. My vote against confirmation was to send the message that we must stand together in support of our veteran community.”
Assemblyman Dante Acosta represents the 38th Assembly District stretching from Vazquez Rocks in Agua Dulce to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, which encompasses the communities of Santa Clarita, Porter Ranch, Chatsworth and Northridge.
