Valencia High School students take honors at 2017 Socal Career Development Conference.
The 2017 Socal Career Development Conference, also known as the District competition, took place from January 13- 15 and was hosted at the Wyndham hotel in Anaheim, California. Sixteen Valencia High School students participated in this event for the first competition of 2017.
The Conference consisted of 23 categories which encompassed real life scenarios through 2 roleplays and a 100 question test on Business knowledge.
The Valencia High students were successful on overall achievements based on the role plays and the testing. Mark Gray, president of Valencia DECA and a senior, won first in his category of Business Services Marketing (BSM).
Tim Ahn , also a senior, won first for the Accounting Applications Series (ACT). Sid Sen and Jacob Chavas won first for the Financial Services Team Decision Making (FTDM) event. Pablo Gratas won 1st for the Automotive Services Marketing Series (ASM).
Chris Carlson received 2nd in the Human Resources Management Series and Kristen Beckwith won 2nd in the Food Marketing series event. Jenna Peterson won 3rd in a role play for Restaurant and Food Service Management.
Other Valencia members including Makenna Minniti, Katie Ticas, Andrew Gonzalez, Michelle Marks and Erick Estrada won honorable mentions for being in the top 8 for their categories.
