CHP Newhall would like to thank the Castaic Area Town Council for the new Operation Snowflake Residency Placards. All residents of Castaic can obtain these placards (with proof of residency) at the Newhall CHP office located at 28648 The Old Road, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bring your valid ID or ID in combination with a utility bill to establish your Castaic residency and you will receive one placard per vehicle in your household. These placards will allow residents to make their way to their homes when northbound I-5 becomes closed at Parker Road due to Operation Snowflake. Don’t wait until the next storm hits; the number of placards is limited, so get yours now.

I thought this was a political thing and actually started laughing. Now I know it’s for something legitimate after reading the article.

  2. Didn’t read the article but I think this Operation Codename would be more fitting for a more liberal college town.

  3. They did not do their homework on this one. Must have been more snowflakes in charge of it

  4. Operation Snowflake was named many years ago, long before the term “snowflake” became a weak insult. Just FYI.

  5. Somewhere out there a snowflake is upset they do not live in Castaic to be able to get one of these.

  6. Aj Green Aj Green says:

Man I hope they would make this for the people like me who live up farther down the 5 it would help a lot it would keep all the snow bunnies out of the way when wether is really bad

  7. Jeff says:

Now if they would only turn people around before Parker

  8. Lori Shepard says:

The CHP office is out according to a sign on their door. It directs us to a website for the town council.
