The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival is gearing up for their upcoming summer cultural festival, the LA SummerFEST, by announcing a number of positions, part-time employment, and internships.

The LA SummerFEST is a free, five-week, eclectic summer cultural festival, presented in collaboration with a number of other local non-profit organizations. The festival is presented annually at the Rivendale site in Towsley Canyon.

“The festival is growing by leaps and bounds”, says Davis Stears, executive director of the SCSF and producer for the summer cultural festival. “It takes a lot of people coming together to bring the festival to the community.” This season the festival has two additional paid positions to the regular festival staff: an Ad Sales position, and the Festival Production Intern. The Ad Sales associate will solicit and coordinate advertisements for the LA SummerFEST Magazine, the program for the summer cultural series. Compensation includes a base for minimum sales and increasing commissions. The position is part-time and temporary. There is additional compensation for design and printing of the magazine.

The Festival Production Intern is in association with the LA County Arts Commission internship program. The festival production intern is a fulltime, paid 10-week internship, and duties will include working with the festival production manager assisting with all aspects preproduction and technical aspects of the festival. After the opening of the festivals, the intern will assist the front of house manager in interacting with festival attendees and VIPs, including data collection and preparing house reports. Understanding of customer service, and general interest and/or knowledge of theatre or public event is helpful. To apply for the summer production intern, you must be a fulltime college student and a resident of Los Angeles County.

Please email resume and cover letter to production@scshakespearefest.org and include Festival Internship in the subject line. For more information about all the internships available through the LA Arts Commission, check out their website at https://www.lacountyarts.org/opportunities/arts-internship-program-students.

There are also a number of volunteer positions including event producers, event assistants, and house management volunteers, including event producers, event coordinators, tech support, and house managements positions.

If interested in working with the LA SummerFEST, contact the festival producer, David Stears, at dstears@LASummerFEST.org.
