College of the Canyons carded a five-man score of 373 at TPC Valencia on Monday to defend its home course and win its fourth Western State Conference (WSC) event of the season.
The win puts Canyons two points ahead of second place Ventura College in the season standings.
On Monday, the Cougars topped the field, followed by Ventura (379), Santa Barbara City College (391), Glendale (397), Citrus (402), Victor Valley (469) and Antelope Valley College (506).
Playing with clear skies and sunshine throughout the day, COC’s Jaeyeol Kim was able to shoot an even par round of 72. That mark tied Kim with Glendale golfer Jake Schultz for medalist honors.
Ben Campbell and Alexander Laendin each shot a round of 74 for Canyons.
Daniel Taplin was next for COC at 76 and Jochem Hubregtse was the fifth to score with his tally of 77.
Campbell (second), Taplin (fifth) and Kim (seven) continue to rank in the top 10 of the WSC individual standings with four conference events, including the WSC Finals on May 1, remaining on the schedule.
The Cougars will next compete at the Monterey Invitational being held April 4-6.
Conference play will continue on Monday, April 10, at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale. Tee time is 10 a.m.
