Yonathan Daza delivered four of Lancaster’s 21 hits to lead the JetHawks to a 16-10 victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Friday night at The Hangar.
The JetHawks scored 13 of their 16 runs with two huge innings. Down 6-1 entering the bottom of the third, they put up a seven-spot. In the fifth, the JetHawks scored six times. All 13 runs came with two out.
Daza became the first JetHawk to record a four-hit game this season and increased his batting average to .378 in the process, which now leads the club. All four hits were singles. He also picked up two RBI.
Brian Mundell drove in four runs, increasing his team-leading total to 22. All nine JetHawks starters had a hit and eight recorded multi-hit games. Brendan Rodgers and Forrest Wall picked up three hits apiece.
Rodgers, who was making his home debut with Lancaster, came through with a pair of doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored. The shortstop is ranked as the top prospect in the Rockies organization.
Sam Thoele (1-1) earned the win for the JetHawks in relief. He struck out two in 2.1 innings of work. Logan Cozart and Alexander Guillen each tossed scoreless innings out of the Lancaster bullpen.
Rancho Cucamonga starter Mitchell White lasted just 2.2 innings and allowed eight runs (five earned) on eight hits. He took a no-decision. Dean Kremer (1-1) suffered the loss in relief for the Quakes.
The three-game weekend series continues on Saturday night at The Hangar. Right-hander Peter Lambert (0-2) will start for Lancaster against left-hander Caleb Ferguson (1-1). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
