LANCASTER – Brendan Rodgers homered to extend his hitting streak to 18 games, but the Inland Empire 66ers rallied late and held on for a 13-10 victory over the JetHawks on Saturday night at The Hangar.
The 66ers scored four runs in the eighth and added another four in the ninth. The JetHawks also rallied in the bottom of the ninth and put up three runs, but Sam Hilliard flied out to deep center to end the game representing the tying run.
Lancaster fell behind immediately for a second straight night, as the 66ers scored four times in the top of the first. Troy Montgomery capped scoring in the frame with a three-run homer.
Inland Empire’s lead was gone by the end of the third inning. Hamlet Marte put Lancaster on the board with a two-run double off the center-field wall in the second. Brendan Rodgers led off the third with his 11th long ball of the season. Later in the inning, Roberto Ramos launched a two-run shot to right-center field, his second home run in as many nights. Ramos finished 2-for-3 and scored three runs.

Sam Hilliard also went deep for the second consecutive game with a two-run blast in the fourth inning.
Colin Welmon struggled in the opening frame for Lancaster, but settled in and retired 10 of 11 hitters at one point. The right-hander allowed five runs on six hits in four and two-thirds innings. He struck out four. Helmis Rodriguez tossed two and one-third scoreless innings in relief for the JetHawks.
Logan Cozart and Alexander Guillen struggled out of the Lancaster bullpen, combining to give up the final eight runs of the game.
Garrett Hampson and Wes Rogers each recorded three hits for the JetHawks. They finished with 16 on the game.
Eric Karch (1-0), just sent down from Double-A Mobile, picked up the win with three and one-third innings of scoreless relief. He struck out four. Jeremy Rhodes recorded the final two outs in the bottom of the ninth to earn his fifth save.
