The Master’s University volleyball program’s 2017 schedule has been released.

In 2017, the Lady Mustangs are slated to play five teams listed in the 2016 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Postseason Poll.

The Lady Mustangs open their season on August 16 at 10:00 a.m. when they play No.16 Corban (OR) at the 2017 Hope International Summer Slam Tournament in Fullerton. That same day, TMU will also play Southern Oregon at 6:00 p.m. The next day (Aug. 17), TMU will take on No. 6 Eastern Oregon at 2:00 p.m. and receiving-votes Cornerstone at 8:00 p.m.

TMU will compete in its home opener on August 26 when it hosts Providence Christian at 8:00 p.m. Three days later (Aug. 29), the Lady Mustangs will play La Sierra at 7:00 p.m. on Bross Court.

On September 6, TMU will travel to Lancaster for a 7:00 p.m. match against the University of Antelope Valley. The Pioneers of the University of Antelope Valley will visit the Placerita Canyon on September 19 for a 7:00 p.m. tilt.

Looking ahead, the Lady Mustangs will polish off their non-conference schedule in October when TMU travels to Columbia, Missouri for a two-day tournament against some of the NAIA’s top talent on the campus of Columbia College. On October 13, TMU will take on No. 4 Park (MO) at 3:00 p.m., followed by a match against Dillard (LA) 7:00 p.m. The next day (Oct. 14), TMU will play No. 8 Columbia at 11:00 a.m.

TMU opens its GSAC schedule on September 9 at 7:00 p.m. against No. 7 Westmont on Bross Court. A week later, the Lady Mustangs will host Arizona Christian on September 15 at 7:00 p.m. and San Diego Christian the next day (Sept. 16) at 4:00 p.m.

The Mustangs will hit the road the following week for a match against Menlo on September 22 in Atherton at 7:00 p.m. The next day (Sept. 23), TMU will take on William Jessup at 2:00 p.m. in Rocklin. On September 28, TMU will return to Bross Court for a 7:00 p.m. match against Hope International University. Two days later (Sept. 30), the Mustangs will travel to Costa Mesa for a 7:00 p.m. showdown against Vanguard.

The Lady Mustangs will take on Westmont again on October 7 in Santa Barbara at 7:00 p.m. After its time in Missouri, TMU will return to its GSAC slate on October 19 when it travels to Fullerton for a 7:00 p.m. match against Hope International. The Lady Mustangs then host Vanguard on October 20 at 7:00 p.m. TMU will play in its final road match of the regular season when they travel to Phoenix, Arizona for a 7:00 p.m. match against Arizona Christian on October 26. Two days later (Oct. 28.), The Lady Mustangs will take on San Diego Christian at 7:00 p.m. in Santee.

On November 3, the Lady Mustangs will play Menlo at 7:00 p.m. on Bross Court. The next day (Nov. 4), TMU will close its regular season schedule when they welcome William Jessup to Bross Court for a 4:00 p.m. match.

As for the postseason, The Master’s University will be the host site for the inaugural GSAC Volleyball Tournament (Nov. 10-11). The NAIA Opening Round will take place on November 18 at a site to be determined and the NAIA National Tournament will be played November 28–December 2 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Commenting on TMU’s 2017 schedule, fourth-year Lady Mustang head coach Allan Vince said, “I’m very excited to play in the HIU Summer Slam tournament for our first competitive showing. We’re going to play some challenging teams that will hopefully give us some wins from the get go. I’m also really excited for the Missouri tournament, as that will pit us against some of the nation’s best teams. This schedule will challenge our roster as we have a bunch of young players that will have the opportunity to grow for future years. Finally, I’m excited for the GSAC Tournament, as it will culminate the year’s hard work. The teams in the GSAC are pretty even this season and the championship is up for grabs. We’re up for the challenge.”

Last season, Vince led TMU to a 20-11 (12-4 GSAC) record. Notably, 2016’s campaign marked the second time since 2012 that the Lady Mustangs have posted 20 regular-season victories.
