LANCASTER – Mylz Jones and Roberto Ramos each went deep for the JetHawks, but the Lake Elsinore Storm hit three homers of their own and took the series opener 8-4 on Thursday night at The Hangar.
Jones opened the scoring with a two-out solo shot in the second inning, his eighth home run of the season. All eight have come at home, where Jones is hitting over .340.
Lake Elsinore surged in front, 3-1, with back-to-back home runs from Fernando Perez and Austin Allen in the fourth inning. It was the first of two long balls in the game for Perez.
The JetHawks came back with three runs of their own in the fourth inning to re-take the lead, 4-3. Ramos launched a two-run homer to center, his ninth of the season. Wes Rogers followed with a single, stole second and third, and came home on Collin Ferguson’s sacrifice fly. Rogers, the league-leader in stolen bases, has swiped 55 in 63 tries.
The Storm scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good. Austin Allen, who finished a triple shy of the cycle, delivered an RBI double. Kyle Overstreet cashed in with an RBI single.
Lake Elsinore scored insurance runs in the final three frames. Rod Boykin came through with a two-out RBI triple in the eighth. He was a home run shy of the cycle in the contest. Perez hit his second home run leading off the ninth.
Jesus Tinoco (7-3) suffered the loss for the JetHawks, his second straight against Lake Elsinore. The right-hander allowed six runs on nine hits in six and two-thirds innings.
Adrian De Horta (2-0) picked up the win for the Storm. He went five innings and surrendered four runs on six hits. David Bednar, Jose Castillo, and Gerardo Reyes combined to throw four shutout innings and strike out four to close out the game.

The four-game series continues on Friday night at The Hangar. Right-hander Brandon Gold (2-0) will start for Lancaster against left-hander Logan Allen (1-1). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
