What a joke, no need to worry about all the shootings then
Which city over 200K has less?
http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
Bend oregon, Boise idaho
I do not doubt there are others safer but I’d say we are on the good end of the spectrum ;)
and accoridng to this Boise is actually worse than SCV too http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Boise-City-Idaho.html
Surely u have better things to do than fact check all day, really!
lol it took me literally 10 seconds, I just get peeved with all the group think that is incorrect
Hahaha. That’s a good one ??
compare for yourself and find somewhere safer http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
Who decides this crap lol
stats http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
I’m scared for the rest of the world
haha Yea, I always tell people we live in a bubble in the USA and more of a bubble here in SCV
Really?!?! That’s a joke!
compare for yourself and find somewhere safer =) http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
Lies lies lies
So much death. How can it be safe?
What city of over 200k has less?
Less what? Death?
San Diego Sacramento San Francisco R3 in California just off the top of my head.
San Jose and believe it or not Providence Rhode Island. Some of the Cities mentioned above have triple the population with less death. You cannot have so many people dying so early and say that this is safe whatever it might be
It’s a Fugazi it’s a fake it’s not real they’re trying to trick people. I would say from personal experience it must be one of the top 10 most risky dangerous cities to Simply drive through
lol
i grew up in Long Beach i beg to differ
Long Beach was never mentioned neither was South Central Compton Palmdale
And your profile says you’re from Saugus you should change that because you’re from Long Beach Nicole Nicholas Bedore
As with all stats, there is sway but I would say SCV is far from any most dangerous list. I have been to many shady places in California. SCV would rank much higher of towns I would be more comfortable if my kid/wife had to walk the streets at night
I grew up in Newhall. And when I grew up there it was a lot safer. People didn’t die in record-setting numbers. Teenagers weren’t homeless walking the streets on heroin. And the city was not blind to all the problems within its boundaries
Walk around Jake’s way after 10. You’re never going to do it because you’re scared and you know better. You live in the Land of Make Believe and wouldn’t surprise me if you walk the streets at night Behind the Walls of a gated community. Place looks really nice on the outside but when you start to look on the inside and you dig a Little Deeper you start to find things that you wish you didn’t find in the first place. But what do I know I only live there for 38 years. I was able to witness the transition from a wonderful community to the chaotic place you drive around in today. New people are just blind to it all because they don’t know any better. It just upsets me to see a place where the record-setting death figures consider itself the safest place anywhere on Earth. Anywhere around Jakes Way after 10 give it a shot. Avoid eye contact
And your stats above are incorrect. I just did ONE search and San Diego had 200-499 crimes where as Santa Clarita had 50-199 based on public data. In 2015….San Diego had 37 murders per 100K and SCV had 7 per 100K.
449*
Off the top of your head does not count – If you want to actually answer my challenge to your assumption please do so with so info to back up not just feelings.
http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
SCV is safe by many standards when compared to other CA cities as well as national averages
You live there to look around it’s Bulls stuff. Some things you just can’t Google. It’s like Santa Clarita for instance they’re not going to give true numbers because that would be a bad thing. Like the current population for instance current population Santa Clarita 1990 167000. There used to be a sign right on the exit when you got off the freeway to go to Santa Clarita off the 5 freeway headed north but they took that sign down because they don’t want people to know how many people are packed into such a small area. My guess 350 plus thousand and growing.
805*
Crimes may occur more often but per capita will still are safe by comparison. 15 years ago this town was a lot smaller so of course there will be less crime
Jake’s way after 10 shoot after Dark. Del Oro. Little TJ. These are all places you’re going to get Shook and get your money took
Less people less problems pretty much my point build a house and call the community safe. Not only call it safe call it the safest. Lies lies lies. Change the names of the streets to make things look prettier in the eyes of who? I’ve said it once and I’m going to say it again the city was founded by Henry Mayo Newhall in the 1890s why is Henry Mayo currently located in Valencia? My birth certificate says Newhall
Sick part about it all is the last thing that that place is is kid friendly. Or teenage friendly. Or having children under 50 friendly.
Yep- population has jumped a lot, but I still do not fear for my life walking around town, even in the less desirable areas. I have not once been attacked in my 20+ years living here. I am not blind to the issues and crime here either I know it exists for sure. But I am also aware its worse in many many other places. Where do you live? Still in SCV? Have you lived elsewhere?
Oh yeahhhh rightttt
compare for yourself and find somewhere safer http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
That’s an absolute joke
compare for yourself and find somewhere safer http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
Like she said absolute joke
Anyways! Tweekerville!
Let’s not forget the city just reduced possession of meth and heroin to a misdemeanor now that’s got to help keep the city safe
Well on my side of the valley in Canyon Country! A lot of theft and burglary because of these Aholes!
Dope fiends
Brian Durand everywhere!
Compared to what, Chicago? New Orleans, Detroit? Seriously, when the bar is set so low, it’s not hard to rise.
We can either be cynical of Santa Clarita or appreciate that it’s not as dangerous as other cities. I feel safe enough to walk around at night in this city by myself. Many people in LA county cant say that.
We can be appreciative while still being realistic that this community has changed significantly in recent years and may not be as “safe” as that poll suggests. C’mon….just read the news headlines.
Roger Langford you can also open your eyes as to what struggles are really out there. As cities grow, crime goes up. You can’t expect to live in LA County and not find all elements everywhere. It’s a part of growth. All we can do is remain vigilant and understand that as a community we protect our city, since it seems as if we’ve been spoiled for a very long time.
Roger Langford also, take a look at Pacoima just a few miles away… we don’t deal with and we are still in a position where we can keep our schools and streets safe.
…..and we can also expect that there should be more than one police station and one hospital for our growing community. Our emergency infrastructure in this valley cannot truly support the population as is….SO HOW CAN YOU CALL US SAFE, Nelson?
GREAT…almost everywhere is safe compared to Pacoima, Nelson. Is that our new slogan? “AWESOMETOWN…we’re safer than Pacoima!” ???
Roger Langford are you implying that our Sheriffs aren’t doing a good job? It’s impossible to stop all crime. How often are the shootings happening? Not all that often. With the opening of the shelter we’ve attracted the issues that come with homelessness… addiction, mental health and crime. As long as we continue to call 911 when issues occur, communicate with our neighborhood watch groups and take our own personal precaution things will remain balanced. We can’t just expect to be the only place in LA that shouldn’t experience crime. It’s going to happen.
Roger Langford no, obviously not, man… love it or hate it, people are moving here… adjust. As numbers rise our infrastructure will have to respond. If not, we hold them accountable. I get it, you want the old days when sizzler was the only restaurant and the mall didn’t exist… if it stayed that way no one would’ve moved here making property value unstable and undesirable area.
Roger Langford funny part is I see we are both emergency managers and have a different point of view on things.
Roger Langford btw, I agree, our infrastructure needs to improve but we both know that govt doesn’t really mitigate crime as well as it should. It’s completely reactive, rather than proactive.
Nelson Cox….ABSOLUTELY NOT & HOW DARE YOU! I have MANY friends and family in law enforcement doing ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING they can to keep us safe….but our services are overwhelmed to the point of exhaustion by recent legislation and judicial decisions that forced more Sheriffs back into the jails and off of patrol. What I am saying is that we need to be willing to foot the bill for more infrastructure so they have a fighting chance.
STOP BEING A TROLL!
Roger Langford relax, man… I was clarifying.
stop assuming what I want….I understand Population Bio from college and I made the exodus from Burbank. I would not begrudge anyone moving here. I just want the growth of the valley to include the expansion of the services that will help us maintain quality of life and SAFETY in thus valley. STOP telling me what you think I mean. You don’t know me.
Nelson Cox…you did not clarify anything and implied that I don’t think our officers are doing a good job….so just stop now.
Roger Langford whatever man
must not take incidents of vehicular manslaughter into account….wonder if some stats don’t count against us because they occur on unincorporated LA county land???
Michelle Lopez Jackie Lopez Dora Marquez
Not so much Anymore!
compare http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
You got that right
Lived there for 23 yrs it’s not the same place, moved 7 yrs ago just up the canyon could not take the traffic anymore after I retired…..
Its a death trap
Valencia the new hood
compare for yourself and find somewhere safer http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
So true. Specsilly to comparing neighboring cities. Things go bad everywhere but I do love the safe feeling I get
Its #90 on the list lol
http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
Yup, http://www.hometownstation.com/santa-clarita-news/crime/santa-clarita-deputies-arrest-juvenile-after-another-shooting-in-newhall-200838
So many negative nancys posting. This city is very safe, not perfect but safe. Seems many have lived in the bubble of SCV so long that they do not realize how much junk goes on elsewhere.
You have just got to be new lol
That right Long Beach.
no i go by stats not feelings compare for yourself and find somewhere safer http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html
If your talking about unsafe .San Bernardino is one of the worst cities in the USA . Santa Clarita is very safe , not perfect but safe .
I like how my linked statistics was marked spam lol, someone wants to ignore fact and flagged it.
http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Santa-Clarita-California.html Do your own comparisons. SCV is still safe when compared to other cities and nationally.
2015? The charts are old on that page.
I wouldn’t say 2015 is old per se, but if you have more updated stats that refute these I am more than open to looking them over.
Let’s not forget the city just reduced possession of meth and heroin to a misdemeanor now that’s got to help keep the city safe
That was prop 57 voted on by idiot voters who didn’t read the ballet. It was a statewide effort to reduce jail populations. They classified rape as a nonviolent crime. Repeal 57. It’s not the city.
That’s crazy
Julie Martinez look
OMG this really convinced me of moving there now! ?
Omg babe read everyone’s comments lol they haven’t lived in East LA that’s why they cry of the little crimes they have ?
serious, most the naysayers here must not have lived in many other CA cities. blows my mind! lol
I’m cool with that. They do it every year though…..
LMFAO! SAFE? i am hearing about a shooting, robbery, kidnapping, sexual assault, DEAD BONES FOUND IN CASTAIC MOUNTAINS, Apparently the MAFIA runs Stevenson Ranch who works with the Mayor. I think the people who made this article blew up their toilets and have blown out butts ^^ this city is far from sfe. not to metion the police here are just crude, rude, disgusting and the meanest people you will ever meet. i wouldnt be suprised if some of them are crooked
I believe it came in at #90 on the 100 list , hmmmmm .
It’s a lot nicer than a lot of other cities. If ppl think it’s bad then they probably don’t travel much ?
What about all the heroine and meth??
And death
AND BUDGET WASTE!!
The article says top 3 but the source says top 90? I’m confused….
lol they ain’t never been to jakes way canyon country ?
Fake news
Fake news
Not so sure about that!
Toni Jasso Frank Herrera
??
More like the most filtered when it comes to reporting.
ain’t that the truuuuth!
Middlebury Indiana is the safest in the USA
Kelly
LOL #90! Simi Valley has SCV beat. #1 is in Colorado. ❤️
Only because most crimes are really documented properly in order to continue Santa Clarita is safe status!
Exactly Rosemary Goenner!
Nestor Avelar
Cristina Marie
Hahah Santa Clarita is number 96
when my family moved there in 96 it was in the top 10 for the country
Until you get to Canyon Country and Newhall lol
I agree to a certain extent, however a few years back it used to be safer.
Dave O Dodge Oh we’re not moving back to Burbank or Studio City lol.
“The onion fields are not walking through that door” – Rick Pitino
Literally just read a post from u guys about a teen who pulled a gun on someone. Those statistics must be bought
When you click on the link to see the complete list it shows Santa Clarita as number 90 on the list.
We were 90. I’d say barely making the list.
Just in scv most recycled plastic town in the nation lol
I want to see the list of cities it compared to?
Another note- so many people saying how unsafe SCV is…why do you stay here then? Why don’t you move. You are paying a premium in rent or mortgage to live in this so called “unsafe” area. Doesn’t make sense. If I felt it was so incredibly unsafe I would move on to a safer area.
It’s good to live in a safe city. ???
Um, definitely not. But IF we are, that depresses me that the rest of the USA is just as or worse than us. Just because it says “safest” doesn’t mean crime-free.
Jus watch ur slurpy and dat chickin -http://abc7.com/entertainment/socal-social-media-prankster-attracting-police/2271208/
Safest city …let’s not mention that kid who O.D on heroine at Starbucks in Valencia mall this past year, let’s forget about all the bank robberies that happen on occasion, all the shootings and gang warfare (sup jakes way) cock fighting in Val verde ? And now tagging in VALENCIA …don’t sweep it under the Matt it’s not safe but than again what city is ?
I hear the SCV actually has a higher crime rate than the AV… At least that’s what a one sheriffs department detective told me..
Talk about SPIN! 3rd safest city based on using the ONLY three cities on this list with a population of 200,000 or more. Santa Clarita is 90th of 100 according to the link provided in the article.
Number 90
People talking about that can’t be true and how much crime we have. Seriously you’re an idiot. Try living just over the hill in sfv or 50 million other cities around the country. Get over yourself and your *gasps*” oh omg we have so much crime here !”
