SAN BERNARDINO – The Lancaster JetHawks clinched a franchise-record sixth consecutive winning season with their 71st victory, a 7-2 win over the Inland Empire 66ers, on Sunday afternoon at San Manuel Stadium.
The JetHawks (71-56, 33-24) swept Inland Empire (59-68, 29-28) with the win, recording their first road series sweep since late July, 2016 at High Desert.
Jesus Tinoco (10-4) became the third Lancaster starting pitcher to reach 10 wins this season. He allowed one run on three hits over 6.1 innings, striking out six while issuing four walks.
Lancaster got another big performance from its bottom of the order. The seven-hitter Chris Rabago singled to begin the third inning, moved to third on a Scott Burcham single and scored on a Wilson Sorian sac-fly for the first run of the game. Burcham made it 2-0 in the fifth inning with a RBI-double.
The top of the order got in on the action in the sixth. Garrett Hampson singled to lead off the inning, stole second base and came home on a Wes Rogers double to give Lancaster a 3-0 lead.
The JetHawks chased Inland Empire starter Joe Gatto (1-2) in the seventh. Rabago followed a Dillon Thomas double with a triple, then scored on a Burcham fly ball. Gatto allowed four runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings.
Hampson and Yonathan Daza wakled to open the eighth inning and scored on a Rogers single and an Avery Romero sac-fly.
Soriano picked up the final hit for the JetHawks in the ninth inning and finished the day 2-for-3. He went 9-for-11 in the series and finished the road trip 14-for-23.
