2 Get Prison for Attacking Giants Fan at Dodger Stadium

logo-lacodistrictattorneyThe two men charged with brutally beating Giants fan Bryan Stow following an opening day Dodger game three years ago both pleaded guilty Thursday and were sentenced to prison, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Louie Sanchez, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of mayhem and was sentenced to eight years in state prison by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge George G. Lomeli.

Codefendant Marvin Norwood, 33, pleaded guilty to one count of assault and was sentenced to four years in state prison.

Deputy District Attorneys Michele Hanisee and Frank Santoro of the Major Crimes Division prosecuted the case.

Stow, a Santa Cruz paramedic and San Francisco Giants fan, was leaving Dodger Stadium following the March 31, 2011, opening game when he was attacked from behind by Sanchez. Sanchez knocked the father of two unconscious during an unprovoked attacked in the stadium’s parking lot.

Stow, who suffered severe brain trauma, will require skilled longterm care and daily assistance for the rest of his life as a result of the attack.

Witnesses testified that Norwood prevented Stow’s friends from helping him.

The case was investigated by Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.

    Right, but their sentences should be a lot longer! Escpecially with that smug attitude Sanchez had during the sentencing. Hoping for karma in this case since justice served isn’t enough!

    not severe enough…Bryan is disabled for life…they will do less than 1/2 of their sentence….ridiculous….justice was not served for this poor man…..

    The Feds are following up with Federal weapons charges that could tag another 10 yrs for each of the accused to run to run consecutively after release from the state correctional system. Still…not much for destroying someone’s life.
