On Tuesday, July 8, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Juvenile Intervention Team conducted an operation in an effort to ensure that Santa Clarita businesses (in the city and unincorporated areas) are complying with local and state laws regarding illegal substances. Information obtained by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station indicated that some local tobacco shops may be selling illegal substances, such as “bath salts” and “spice,” to children and adults in our community.
California Health and Safety Code Section 11357.5 makes it illegal for any person to sell, dispense, distribute, offer to sell, or possess for sale any synthetic cannabinoid compound, or any synthetic cannabinoid derivative. This misdemeanor crime can be punishable by imprisonment in a county jail, a substantial fine or both.
“Spice,” also known inaccurately as synthetic cannabis is a psychoactive designer drug made from natural herbs sprayed with synthetic chemicals that, when consumed, can mimic the effects of other illegal drugs. The term, “bath salt” is another name for a family of designer drugs containing numerous chemicals, which can have effects similar to amphetamine and cocaine and are illegal. The white crystals resemble legal bathing products, such as Epsom salts. Chemically, the two have no other relation.
The J-Team works to keep drugs out of our community and away from our youth and schools. During the operation, four locations were checked for compliance. Two did not have any illegal products or violations. However, two retailers were arrested and field released on a notice to appear, when they were caught allegedly selling these “Spice” products. The products were seized.
Deputies are hopeful that the word is getting out to local businesses that this practice is illegal and those found in violation will be subject to enforcement under the law.
Additional operations will be conducted in the coming months.

I have never heard of this. Happy I know now!
What is spice? Used to do drugs but never heard of spice
Spice is euphoric. I tried it and never want to again. It’s literally woodchips that are colored
That you smoke with a pipe/bong etc
It’s basically a synthetic marijuana.
Bath salts is what that man that was on the news for eating another mans face off…… Bath salts will make you literally go crazy… Like meth coke and heroin…. But like times 2!
Hello Kitty I’m having a stroke!
So that’s the good stuff hah?
Spice is more dangerous than Marijuana
spice is the result of a bunch of chem majors attempting to out-do each other with the strength of their cannabinoids never intended for human consumption. spice is infinitely more dangerous than almost any drug simply because there is no way to measure potency and no regulation.

What is that?
Spice is basically like said synthetic pot it’s made up mostly of things that you would find in incense and that’s how they are able to sell them as incense. It’s disgusting, smoking weed is way less dangerous and doesn’t harm your body the way these fake drugs do. It’s sad too that they put cartoons on these, I thought there was a law against that because it markets to kids… If you’re gunna smoke anything g stick with weed. Smoke to get high, not to die <3

They can’t disclose the retailers as of yet because charges have not been brought up in court yet. Hey off the record if I get to see hello kitty or scooby doo then I want to try too. Lol
