A woman walked out of her house in the upscale Bridgeport community of Valencia Friday afternoon, to find her husband and her two parents shot to death in a car in the driveway.
Her husband, a 64-year-old retired dentist, was the gunman in this apparent murder-suicide.
A sheriff detective said the man had picked up his wife’s parents, both in their 90s, from an assisted-living facility in Los Angeles. He drove them to his house in the 23800 block of Bay View Court, roughly across the street from Bridgeport Elementary School, where he shot them with a handgun while still in the car. He then turned the gun on himself.
The man had left a suicide note. Sheriff officials did not reveal its contents.
Nor did they release the names of the assailant and the victims, but they confirmed that the car was in the assailant’s own driveway.
County records show the home is owned by Susan Strassner and her husband Martin Strassner, a dentist with an office in Granada Hills.
After deputies arrived, a grief counselor was assigned to the woman, while the bodies of her husband and parents remained in the car for several hours.
No motive was immediately apparent. A homicide detective said there was evidence to suggest the gunman suffered from depression.
