Leaders of the Santa Clarita Valley’s three major business organizations are banding together to strengthen local companies and retain and attract new job creators.
Representatives of the SCV Chamber of Commerce, SCV Economic Development Corp. and Valley Industry Association met Friday to figure out ways the three groups could collaborate to support the local business community and each other.
“By working together, our voice will be stronger and we can capitalize on the inherent strengths of each organization. I believe this is the start of great things to come,” EDC President Jonas Peterson said in a statement.
Participating in Friday’s meeting were SCV Chamber chairman Dana Cop, chairman-elect Chris Angelo and CEO Terri Crain; EDC co-chairs Bill Kennedy and Don Fleming and Peterson; and VIA chairman Tim Burkhart, chair-elect Diana Meyer and CEO Kathy Norris.
One thing they’re planning is a business leadership awards event next June.
“This will be an event that will showcase all businesses in the SCV, including those we don’t traditionally learn about in headlines,” said Crain.
“VIA is delighted to be building a strong relationship for the future with the two other leading business organization in the SCV,” said Norris. “By working together, we can make things happen.”
