Two more dead crows found in Valencia were confirmed to have died from West Nile Virus, according to the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District.
The two crows bring the total to four found this year in Santa Clarita. All four were found in Valencia.
There were no new reports of mosquito samples testing positive in the SCV this week. So far this year, three infected mosquito samples were found in Newhall and one each in Valencia and Canyon Country.
Throughout Los Angeles County, 38 mosquito samples and 19 dead birds tested positive this week, for an annual county total of 149 dead birds, 380 mosquito samples and 13 sentinel chickens.
The past week saw the first reports of the virus in Porter Ranch and downtown Los Angeles in 2011.
Vector Control cautions that West Nile Virus is at elevated levels throughout the county. It is a seasonal epidemic that causes signs of sickness in about 1 of 150 infected people and is typically transmitted through mosquito bites.
