[Supervisor Mike Antonovich] – In light of recent revelations concerning questionable excessive spending by construction authority executives, a motion by MTA Director Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, co-authored by MTA Directors Ara Najarian and Supervisor Don Knabe, directs the acting MTA Inspector General to conduct a thorough review of expenditures by Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority, the Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority and the Alameda Corridor-East Construction Authority.
Due back to the MTA Board by March 2012 the review will include:
– The full staffing plan for each authority, including in-house employees, contract employees and consultants, with salaries for each employee.
– The review of each authority’s Chief Executive Officer’s contract that describes total compensation, including deferred compensation, incentives, and benefits.
– A review of each authority’s policies regarding expenditures, including travel, training, per diems and miscellaneous expenses.
The three independent construction authorities are charged with the implementation of regional transportation projects funded by Measure R and other sources as programmed by the MTA.
“Excessive compensation, luxury travel and other non-vital expenditures must be identified and curtailed to ensure MTA funds are being spent appropriately by these authorities,” said Antonovich.
