The Canyon and West Ranch boys basketball teams meet tonight in a game for first place in the Foothill League.
Canyon has won 10 games in a row and is 2-0 against Foothill League teams. The West Ranch boys won their first two league games and are tied with Canyon atop the Foothill League standings.
The two teams play at Canyon High School. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30.
The Valencia boys travel across town to play Saugus. Valencia is coming off a 61-47 loss to Canyon on Friday night. Saugus lost to Hart, 57-53, to drop to 0-2 in the Foothill League standings.
Hart will be looking for its second league win in a row against Golden Valley, which has lost four games in a row.
On the girls side, Canyon plays at home against West Ranch. The Canyon girls are 2-0 against the Foothill League, but lost, 72-31, to St. Bernard over weekend.
West Ranch has won four games in a row and is coming off a 60-43 win over Golden Valley on Friday.
The Saugus girls are home for a game against Valencia. Saugus has won three of its past four games, including 69-37 over Marymount on Saturday.
The Hart and Golden Valley girls will be looking for their first league wins of the season. Hart has lost five games in a row, Golden Valley has lost three games in a row.
In football, Valencia High graduate Greg Herrick, who played quarterback for the Vikings in high school and at Northern Arizona in college, signed a contract to play for the New Yorker Lions in the German Football League.
He threw for 11,022 yards in three years as the starting quarterback at Valencia.
In golf, Saugus High graduate Nick Delio earned a spot on the GOLFWEEK National Pro Tour. The season starts at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara on March 6.
In hockey, the Kings are in Vancouver for a game against the Canucks tonight. The Kings are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.
