The Storm, Futbol Club Santa Clarita’s men’s pro soccer team, has released a spring pre-season schedule that includes the US Open Cup qualifiers.
The spring schedule will start with two games at the University of California, Irvine, on Saturday, March 3, against the University of San Diego and George Kuntz’s Irvine team. The spring schedule will wrap up with a series of games in Santa Clarita with teams from the Western Conference, F.C. Hasental and the Fullerton Rangers.
The Storm will play the Fullerton Rangers on March 17; the winner of that single-elimination match will go on to face F.C. Hasental on March 24. The winner of that round-robin will represent the conference in the Open Cup in May.
The Western Conference consists of 12 teams in northern and Southern California. The two region each get one representative in the Open Cup. Each region has dividend itself into two groups of three that will compete against each other in the round-robin tournament and there will be one winner in each group of three. Those two winners will be the two Western Conference representatives.
Regular season play begins April 7.
