The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Santa Clarita Valley area:
“A wind advisory means that winds of 35 mph or greater are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult…especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.”
The wind advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m. Saturday.
Gusty winds up to 50 m.p.h. are expected to impact Interstate 5 and Highway 14.
“Slow down and use extra caution. Keep eyes open for broken branches or debris on roadways,” according to the National Weather Service.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department fire fighters responded to a back yard trash fire at the 23200 block of Sherwood Place around 11 a.m. Friday. Despite high winds the fire was not expected to spread.
Stay Green Tree Experts says high winds pose a danger to Santa Clarita Valley trees and can contribute to property damage.
“Gusts of 50 mph and more have brought down power lines and trees, putting various local government agencies on heightened levels of alert for injuries and property damage,” said Stay Green experts.
