1975 - Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society incorporates as a 501c3 nonprofit [Heritage Junction]


Chris Buchanan made baseball history at Trinity Classical Academy. The junior pitched the first no-hitter in school history against Summit High in Valley Glen.

Buchanan struck out 13 and walked three in Trinity’s 10-0 win. Dakota Prochnow drove in three runs with a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning.

The Hart baseball team lost to Chaminade, 5-0.

In college baseball, the College of the Canyons lost to Bakersfield College, 18-15, in a slugfest at COC.

Both teams combined to hit seven home runs and collected 34 hits.

Jake Jelmini hit a grand slam, was 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in five runs. Drew Sandler hit a two-run home run for COC in the sixth inning.

In high school softball, West Ranch shut out Granada Hills, 10-0, in six innings.

Bailey Foster threw the complete-game shutout, a three-hitter with four strikeouts.

The Santa Clarita Christian softball team shut out Albert Einstein Academy, 18-0. Heather McCain tossed a no-hitter and struck out eight for Santa Clarita Christian.

In high school tennis, the West Ranch boys beat Oakwood, 11-7.

The Saugus boys tennis team lost to Simi Valley, 13-5.

In high school golf, the Valencia boys beat Oak Park by 19 strokes, 430-449, in a match at Valencia Country Club.

Valencia’s Jonathan Chang and Keaton Hutchinson each shot the low round of the match, 10-over 82s.

The Dodgers lost to the Giants, 8-4, in Cactus League action in Arizona. Andre Ethier hit his first home run of the spring.

Melky Cabrera hit two home runs for the Giants.

The Dodgers play the Oakland Athletics and Manny Ramirez later on today.

In hockey, the Kings won their third game in a row, 5-4, over the Nashville Predators. Justin Williams scored two goals and the Kings scored twice in the third period to break a 3-3 tie.

Matt Greene scored the go-ahead goal in the third period. Trevor Lewis gave the Kings a 5-3 lead with his third goal of the season.

The Kings are off to Columbus for a game against the Blue Jackets on Thursday night, the second game of a four-game road trip.
