Hart and Golden Valley came away with some impressive performances at the Arcadia Invitational track and field meet over the weekend.

The Hart and Golden Valley boys medley relay teams finished in the top 10 in the invitational race at the meet.

Golden Valley’s Chelsey Totten and Hart’s Austin O’Neil were in the top-five in the 1-mile races.

Totten finished in fourth in the girls 1-mile seeded race in 5:04.23. Ashley Dadkah from Torrey Pines won the race in 4:54.44

O’Neil was fifth in the boys 1-mile invitational race in 4:14.56. Brad Nye from Davis in Utah won the race in 4:08.80.

Golden Valley, with seniors Carlos Lopez Jr., Kristian Martinez, Juan David Garcia and junior Jonathan Tolentino, was sixth in the boys distance medley invitational race in 10:12.76.

The Hart boys team of Riley Stauffer, Billy Walker, Austin O’Neil and Sam Peckham, was eighth in 10:15.00. Vista Murrieta won the race in 10:08.52.

West Ranch’s Ashley Welker was eighth in the girls 800 invitational race in 2:15.50. Savannah Camacho from Templeton won the race in 2:07.81.

Karis Frankian from Saugus was 16th in the girls 3,200 invitational race in 10:44.11. Jenay Jauregui was 26th in 11:12.37. Sarah Baxter from Simi Valley won the race in 10:08.11.

The Saugus girls were 16th in the distance medley relay invitational race in 12:22.31. West Ranch was 21st in 12:52.25. Harvard-Westlake won the race in 11:45.18.

Hart’s Tim White was third in the invitational triple jump in 47 feet, 7-¾ inches.

In college track and field, Chris Low from College of the Canyons won the Section 4, 800-meter race at the Stanford Invitational in a personal best 1 minute, 49.44 seconds.

Anthony Pizzo from The Master’s College was 17th in the 5,000 meter race at the Stanford Invitational in 14:03.57. Teammate John  Gilbertson was 19th in the 5,000 in 14:04.86.

In high school softball, Valencia lost to Pacifica, 9-1, in the quarterfinals of the Michelle Carew Classic. Pacifica is the No. 2 ranked team in the state.

Valencia bounced back with a 5-0 shutout over Foothill in the tournament. Vikings starter Carly Mortensen tossed a three-hitter and struck out eight against Foothill.

Valencia finished the tournament with a 1-0 win over Martin Luther King and a 5-1 loss to Esperanza.

The Hart softball team beat Temescal Canyon, 10-2 in five innings, in the Woodbridge Tournament. Tracy Chandless hit a grand slam in the third inning for Hart.

The Indians lost to La Canada, 6-4, in their first game in the tournament.

In hockey, the Kings lost to the San Jose Sharks, 3-2, in overtime and dropped to the No. 8 seed in the NHL Western Conference playoffs.

The Kings will play the Vancouver Canucks in the first round starting on Wednesday.

The Dodgers lost to the Padres, 8-4, snapping their three-game winning streak to start the season. Matt Kemp hit a two-run homer for the Dodgers, his second of the season. Andre Ethier hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the ninth inning.
