Stevenson Ranch resident Cari Logston, a student at The Master’s College in Placerita Canyon, has won a nationwide art and essay contest put on by Church Hill Classics, a Connecticut company that manufactures frames for college diplomas.

The company announced last week that Logston’s entry was judged the best out of 10,500 entries in the annual contest. A panel of judges whittled down the field to 24 finalists in April, and then the public weighed in by voting on the company’s website.

As the grand prize winner, Logston receives a $1,000 scholarship – and her school is a winner, as well. Church Hill Classics will make an additional $1,000 donation to Master’s.

Called “Frame My Future,” the contest asked students to submit “an original “creation” expressing what they hope to achieve in their personal and professional life after college.”

Students submitted a range of media including photographs, poems, essays, collages, artwork, graphic design, and other imaginative pieces.

On the right is my hand that I use to create and pursue my passion for graphic design. My mom’s hand on the left, along with the rest of her body, is severely paralyzed due to Multiple Sclerosis. My hands lift, carry, feed, and assist her daily. My hands also write, draw, design, and play music. These hands are how I frame my future because I will use mine to create and achieve academic success in addition to functioning for all the things my mom’s hands cannot do.
