[KHTS, 7/3/2012] – The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has identified the teenager killed this weekend as Harut Emmanuel Shabazyan of Hollywood.
He was described by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies as a Russian citizen. His father, who lives in Moscow, was notified of his son’s death.
[LASD, 7/2/2012] – A 16-year old male, who was vacationing in California from Russia, died after a collision that occurred on Pyramid Lake on Sunday at 3:45 p.m..
A twenty-one foot ski boat collided with a personal water craft (Wave Runner) that had turned into the path of the boat. The ski boat operator jumped into the water to assist the operator of the personal water craft (victim) who was now face down motionless in the water and a second passenger of the personal water craft that was also injured and struggling in the water. The boat operator pulled the motionless male and the passenger onto his boat.
While placing the injured parties on his boat, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau arrived, placed both victims onto their boat and immediately administered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to the 16-year old victim who was not breathing. One of the deputies drove them back to the shore where they administered CPR for approximately 20 minutes until Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 4:19 PM. The exact cause of death is unknown at this point. The victim suffered multiple injuries as a result of the collision. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in this accident.
The second victim is a 30-year old male, also on vacation from Russia, was airlifted by the Los Angeles County Fire Department to a local hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the ski boat is a 30-year old male and was not injured. From the initial investigation it appears the victims and the ski boat operator were friends and on vacation.
