Crime Prevention Unit
There were 20 part one crimes reported in the Valencia area this week.
Two vehicle burglaries. Both vehicles were locked and parked in front of their residence in the neighborhoods of Via Artina and Avenida Crescenta. Windows were smashed; items stolen (computer lap top and a pair of Guess jeans) were on the rear back seats, visible from outside the vehicle. The time of occurrence was during the work week between 11:00 pm and 8:00 am.
One theft from vehicle occurred on Parklane Way. The vehicle was left unlocked and parked in the drive way. A work ID was stolen from the center console area of the vehicle. Time of occurrence was during the work week between 8:30 pm and 5:00 am.
One residential burglary occurred on Westview Lane. Entry was made through an unlocked kitchen window. Items stolen were miscellaneous tools. Time of occurrence was during the week day between 8:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
Five shoplifting reports from businesses at the mall, Target, Kohl’s and Rite Aid. The items stolen were recovered at the locations. Four juveniles and one adult were taken into custody behind these events.
One grand theft of a tractor was reported from Magic Mountain Parkway and recovered the next day in Stevenson Ranch.
The ten other reports were of miscellaneous thefts of personal property from various locations. These reports are still activity being investigated by deputies.
On a positive and proactive note, deputies have made over 15 arrests in Zone 5 between 07/09/2012 and 07/15/2012. These arrests include possession of narcotics, DUI, vandalism, indecent exposure, and drunk in public.
Please continue to secure all your personal belongings by not leaving your valuables visible in your vehicle. Please roll up all windows, and lock all doors before leaving your vehicle whether it’s parked in your driveway or not.

5 years ago an experiment from Progressive in Texas where drivers voluntarily agreed to let the auto insurer put devices in their cars to essentially spy on them as they drove. The idea was that safer drivers would get lower insurance rates learn more at “Clearance Auto” on the web
