Valencia, Zone 5
Snapshot for the Week of 08/20/2012 through 08/26/2012
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit
[LASD] – A decrease of Part 1 Crimes was reported for the Valencia area totaling 16 reports. A majority of the reports taken involved: vehicle burglaries, theft from unlocked vehicles, attempt grand theft of vehicles, and shoplifting incidents from local businesses. Of the shoplifting arrests, four were female adults residing in Santa Clarita Valley and two were from the San Fernando Valley.
The five vehicle burglaries and attempts of grand theft of vehicles occurred in the 24000 block of West Valencia Boulevard. The incidents occurred between 800pm-700am in an underground parking structure where the victims live. Entrance/exit made into these vehicles was obtained by smashing the driver’s window. Items stolen were visible from the outside of the vehicles. Fingerprints have been requested on each vehicle for further investigation.
If you park your vehicle in a parking structure or parking lot, please be aware of your surroundings. Secure all personal belongings and do not leave your valuables visible in your vehicles. Always remember to secure your vehicles by rolling up all windows, locking all doors before leaving your vehicle and when possible try to park in well-lit and highly visible areas.
Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area arrested six individuals for criminal actions such as possession of drugs, under the influence of alcohol, shoplifting, and an assault with a deadly weapon.
Continue to report all suspicious activity by calling the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
