A 19-year-old woman was struck and killed by a commuter train Wednesday afternoon in Santa Clarita.
Deputies were investigating the incident as a possible suicide near the intersection of Carl Boyer Drive and Golden Valley Triangle Road.
Sgt. Brian Allen of the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station said the Metrolink train struck the pedestrian Wednesday at about 3 p.m. The victim’s body was dragged under the train along 150 feet of track, coming to a rest under the back of the train.
The train, consisting of an engine and four passenger cars, had just pulled out of the Santa Clarita Station and was headed north toward the Antelope Valley.
Traffic was shut down on Golden Triangle Road from Carl Boyer to Reuther. Train service was suspended and the passengers were bused to train stations up the line.
On Thursday afternoon, family members identified the victim at Cyrena Becerra, a graduate of Sylmar High School and a resident of Saugus.
