The City of Santa Clarita Transit Clarita is inviting community members to two public meetings on Wednesday, Oct. 10, and Thursday, Oct. 11, to discuss the future direction of local transit services. Residents are encouraged to review and share their ideas as the City works to update its Transit Development Plan.
One of the community workshops will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street, Newhall. This workshop is accessible by bus through Routes 4, 5, 6, and 14.
The final meeting will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Jo Anne Darcy Canyon Country Library, located at 18601 Soledad Canyon Rd. This workshop is accessible by bus through Routes 1, 2, 5 and 6.
The meetings are part of a comprehensive outreach effort that began earlier this year with a community survey, bus rider and Dial-A-Ride surveys, and community workshops. The first workshops, which were held in August 2012, asked residents to develop a vision for Santa Clarita Transit. The final round of community meetings are focused on specific recommendations to the Transit Development Plan as a result of public feedback.
The Transportation Development Plan (TDP) is used to project future service plans and financial needs to various funding partners for local and commuter services throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
Updates made to the plan are for 2013 through 2023 and will include: recommendations for transit needs in Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus, and Valencia; in addition to rapidly developing, unincorporated areas such as Sunset Pointe, Southern Oaks, Stevenson Ranch, Westridge, Newhall Ranch, Val Verde, Castaic, and Tesoro Del Valle.
