[Einstein Academy] – A two-point increase in the Albert Einstein Academy for Letters, Arts & Sciences’ Academic Performance Index brings their score to 910 out of a possible 1000. This comes after Einstein added 10th grade education and experienced an increase in special education enrollment due to its outreach efforts to the community.
The charter school’s achievement came as no surprise to Albert Einstein Academy principle Edward Gika who said of the news, “This result is evidence that placing teachers in subjects that represent their strengths creates an atmosphere of increased learning among the student body.” He went on to point out that the bar will be raised next year when the addition of 11th grade will be part of the school’s performance rating. “We expect the school to continue on the path of academic excellence that has been the hallmark of our charter school program.”
The Albert Einstein Academy for Letters Arts & Sciences currently operates a 7th through 11th grade charter school program (12th grade to be added in 2013) in Valencia, CA. Its primary areas of focus are on robust language arts and foreign language learning, including Mandarin (Chinese) and Arabic. In addition to recently receiving a 5-year extension to operate by the William Hart Union School District, Einstein’s Hart District program received accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the highest form of educational accreditation.
The Saugus Union School District is considering a petition submitted by Albert Einstein Academy for a K-6 program. The Saugus Board of Trustees will vote on that petition on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 6:00 PM at District Headquarters.
