[LASD] – Greetings from Newhall! Keep safety in mind as we approach the Thanksgiving and the holiday season. The kitchen is the heart of the home, especially at Thanksgiving. Kids love to be involved in holiday preparations. Safety in the kitchen is important, especially on Thanksgiving Day when there is a lot of activity and people at home.
Between 11/05/2012 and 11/11/2012 Zone 6 (Newhall) had seven reported Part-1 crimes, here are some details on just a few of the reported crimes:
A 1997 Honda Civic was stolen from the 23200 block of Dalbey Drive in Newhall. The vehicle was later recovered in the 24500 block of Main Street in Newhall (ref -15685). Another Honda was stolen from the 24100 block of Railroad Avenue. The vehicle was later recovered in LAPD – Van Nuys area (ref -15655).
A burglary was reported to a detached garage in the 21300 block of Bottletree Lane, Newhall. The suspect(s) allegedly walked into the victim’s open garage and broke the driver’s side window of her vehicle that was parked inside the garage. Numerous items were stolen from inside the garage (ref -15799).
A proactive deputy made an outstanding arrest. On 10/30/2012 at approximately 5:00 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Pine Street and 6th Street in Newhall. After a thorough investigation Martin Servin, a 29 year-old male from Newhall was arrested for numerous charges relating to him allegedly possessing a loaded firearm. Martin Servin was out on parole at the time of the arrest, under the Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) program. Mr. Servin is currently being housed without bail at Pitches Detention Center. Also arrested in the vehicle during the traffic stop was Gerardo Silva, a 25 year-old male from Pacoima. Gerardo Silva was arrested for numerous charges relating to carrying a loaded firearm. Mr. Silva is currently being held without bail at Pitches Detention Center. Both Mr. Servin and Mr. Silva are alleged gang members. It is alleged both individuals were also involved in a commercial burglary that occurred at a pet store in Saugus. No further details are available at this time (ref -15372).
