Saugus, Zone 4 Update

[LASD] – Good afternoon, Saugus. This week’s reported Part-1 crimes mirrored the average. There were two residential burglaries and one attempt burglary over the past week. The first was in the 20900 block of Shine Dr., between Monday and Wednesday. The house is currently vacant. Entry was made through an unlocked window and miscellaneous building materials were taken. The second residential burglary occurred in the 22900 block of Oak Ridge Dr. on Thursday, between 2:00 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Someone entered the victim’s apartment through the unlocked sliding glass door and stole a number of personal items.

The attempted residential burglary occurred in the 27400 block of Catala Ave. on Tuesday at around 5:30pm. Deputies quickly responded to the location of a trespassing call and caught the suspect after he ran. The suspect was taken into custody and booked on charges of attempted burglary and trespassing.

There were three vehicle burglaries over the past week. Two of the vehicle burglaries occurred in a business parking lot. The other occurred from an apartment complex. In all of these cases the vehicles were locked. The suspect(s) broke one of the windows to gain entry. In all three cases there were multiple items stolen from the vehicles. Please remember to take all items of value with you when leaving your vehicle unattended. If this is not an option please try to secure any items of value in the trunk or move them out of sight.

There was one reported theft from Central Park which occurred on Monday, between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The victim set some of her personal belongings on the ground near where she was working at the park. When she returned they were missing. Avoid becoming a victim of this type of crime by keeping your valuables in sight at all times. More often than not crimes like these are crimes of opportunity. When potential criminals see items unattended it presents an easy opportunity for them. Keep your items with you or secured in the trunk of your vehicle when possible.

This last week we saw a large amount of arrests out of the Saugus area. There were multiple arrests for DUI and drug possession. There was also an arrest of a burglary suspect.
