Valencia, Zone 5
Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information
Snapshot for 12/03/2012 through 12/09/2012
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit
Zone 5-Valencia reported sixteen Part 1 Crimes during the past week. The criminal incidents included grand theft autos, theft from unlocked vehicles and numerous petty theft/shoplifting from local businesses.
There were five grand thefts of vehicles from various areas in Valencia. Two of the vehicles stolen were recovered in LAPD areas within two days of being reported stolen. Both vehicles were in good condition with nothing stolen from the vehicle. The third vehicle was recovered a day later with a suspect booked at the Santa Clarita Station. The two outstanding vehicles are a 1999 Honda Civic and a 1990 Toyota pickup truck. Both vehicles were stolen between 7:00 am- 4:00pm during the week while being parked in front of the victim’s residence/parking space.
There was only one report of theft from an unlocked vehicle this week. It occurred on the block of 26300 Emerald Dove Drive between the hours of 10:30pm- 6:30am. The victim parked his vehicle in the driveway of his residence and left his door’s unlocked. His wallet, along with cash and credit cards, were stolen from the center console of the vehicle. Remember to secure your vehicles by rolling up all windows and locking all doors. Do not leave valuables unattended or visible in your vehicles. Be cautious of your surroundings and if possible park in well-lit and highly visible areas. Please help us by reporting all suspicious activity and call the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
There were eight arrests made by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area last week. The criminal charges included possession of controlled substances, driving under the influence of alcohol, petty theft, and shoplifting from local businesses.
